Who are the Academy online mentors?
 |
Chris: Teacher
Chris is a Primary School teacher
who has worked with young multi-cultural children.
His personal
interests include the environment, children’s
welfare and encouraging children to communicate across
the globe. Chris strongly believes what a website
says and the role it fulfils is more important than
what it looks like. Brookvale
School was a Childnet
Award winner in 2002.

Jo: Teacher
Jo is a teacher at Ararat Community College
in Victoria, Australia. (English, Social Studies
and Information Technology). Jo has initiated
and
coordintated many large scale theme based collaborative
projects with
schools
from many countries. She has used all associated
ICT tools including
ISDN
video conferencing between countries. As a long term
member of I*EARN
all
projects seek to empower students to make a difference
to issues of
global
significance. Jo's awards for her work in this area
include: 2003
National
Teaching Award -Values Education Category; 2002 BHP
Biliton Science
Teacher
Awards - Prime Minister's Award Finalist; 2001 Winner
Stockholm
Challenge -
Environment Category; 1999 ISTE SigTel International
Award; 1999
Victorian
Technology Teacher of the Year and 1999 Cable and
Wireless Children's
Network - Special innovation award.

Spiros
Spiros is 17 years old and lives in Athens, Greece.
Spiros is extremely interested in the role young
people can play in the world. Participation in decision-making
procedures, global awareness on crucial problems,
and the role of media and Internet in our society
are of great interest to him. Spiros has won a number
of awards for his work and was a commended winner
for his project “Youth Concern" at 2002
Cable & Wireless Childnet Awards. |
