Over the last 5 years the Awards programme has generated
considerable media attention. By profiling the Awards programme,
and the individual winning projects, Childnet hopes to encourage
"best practice" and draw attention to the individual
winning projects.

UKUNDA SCHOOLS PROJECT finalist in Cable & Wireless
CHILDNET Academy 2004
In 1998 the first Award Ceremony took place in London,
UK. Since then every year an award ceremony takes place
in several places around the world: Australia, Paris, USA,
etc.
The internet project Ukunda
Schools Project reached the finals of the annual Cable
& Wireless Childnet Academy 2004. The website is designed
and will be maintained by Frank de Vries. Coming April,
Mr Rene and his son Frank will fly to London to receive
the prize. There will be also two people from Kenya.
The Ukunda Schools Project is a global project to raise
school supplies for a poor elementary school in Ukunda,
Kenya. The prize money will be used for text books for the
primary school Mvindeni.
