Hero Joy Nightingale, UK

from the windowHero Joy Nightingale is a 12 year old girl from Canterbury in England who suffers from locked-in syndrome, a physical disability which leaves her unable to speak, gesture, change position or look after herself. Despite this, Hero Joy has used the Internet to 'reach-out' to the outside world and has developed a superb Webzine (Web magazine) called 'From My Window' which has a number of famous contributors including, UN Secretary Kofi Annan and the Archbishop of Canterbury.
